Hiring Strategy

Responding to the extremely fast-paced nature of the industry, our Human Potential team strives to quickly and thoroughly assess and onboard suitable candidates. From first applying to receiving a job offer, promising candidates can move through our structured recruitment process in as few as 12 days. We look for the following in our future colleagues: character, talent and skill, and in this order specifically.

Practice Groups

We nurture lifelong learning and encourage a love of sharing the acquired knowledge! Upon joining Maestral, our people join practice groups based on their expertise and areas of interest. By making learning and exploring an integral part of Maestral life, we ensure our team members not only feel confident in their abilities but also enjoy the process of overcoming challenges.

Our Head of Education is in charge of structuring learning paths for all employees, as well as developing specific training programs organized in coordination with our practice groups or external associates.

Our practice groups range from: Backend, Frontend, DevOps, Machine Learning, Project Management, UI-UX, Data and Analytics, Internet of Things, Java (and JVM languages), Mobile, Quality Assurance to Communication and Leadership.

Agile Squads

For any given engagement, Maestral team members are grouped together as Agile Squads. A Squad is dedicated to a single client and consists of the required skills mix to see a product development engagement through the entire delivery lifecycle.

With an annual team member retention rate over 95%, our clients appreciate the stability of these Squads. High team member tenure nurtures strong client relationships which in turn results in higher experienced value.

Gigi School of Coding

Through the years, Maestral has recognized the potential of young talent who lack practical experience. To capture this potential, Gigi School of Coding was developed to identify and hire high potential individuals. Gigi School of Coding is our free-to-attendees internal boot camp program. We put our money where our mouth is.

Through its own selection process, aspiring professionals undergo a strict interview and testing process to qualify for admittance to a 4-month practical training program.

Accepted candidates spend 8 hours a day enrolled in a bespoke program which provides exposure to the latest technological trends. Upon completion of the program, the best participants get a chance to interview for a full-time position at Maestral. Every graduate of the program is currently pursuing a successful software development career either in Maestral or elsewhere. We love to enhance the development community even if we don’t get to hire all the attendees directly.

Rotation List

We understand that people sometimes need change to stay on top of their game – that is why every employee is able to request rotation if they have spent 18+ months on the same project.

During regular individual reviews, we ensure employee satisfaction with the project, team, and company remains high.

Although this is an option, many opt to stay on the projects as they grow familiar with the clients.

Tinker Box

Because learning and growing matter, we designed a Tinker Box concept – time off projects that an individual dedicates to professional development.

We think of it as a paid technical vacation away from daily duties in a physically separate workspace.

Through Tinker Box, our teammates can develop their own ideas, learn a new language and improve existing knowledge.

Lunch & Learn

Knowledge sharing and teamwork are essential values of everyone working at Maestral. We practice these values through our bi-weekly lunch and learn sessions and specific in-house courses.

Our Lunch & Learn sessions often turn into lively discussions which nurture transparent communication.
